We will be walking around 350 miles during our three week trip.
Stage 1: West Highland Way
96 miles starting at Milngavie following the shores of Loch Lomond, past Buachaille Etive Mor to the head of Glencoe, climbing the Devil’s Staircase, descending to sea level to cross the River Leven at the head of Loch Leven before entering Lairigmor and Glen Nevis and finishes at Gordon Square in Fort William.
Stage 2: Great Glen Way
79 miles to take us to Inverness – over halfway through the journey . From a canalside path and travelling through beautiful mixed woodland the journey takes us through historic Fort Augustus. From there starts the real climb, looking down on Loch Ness, through more forest and looking down on Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle before entering the woodland and winding our way up. Eventually we get to go downhill, and head through the city to Inverness Castle.
Stage 3: Inverness to Aberdeen
Leaving Inverness we shall be heading to Culloden moor then make our way south through Dunmaglass (before they put the windfarms up there), across to Kingussie before heading into the Cairngorms, then we over to Stonehaven and finally up to Aberdeen in time for tea and cake… which is as far as we’ve planned so far.
